Category-weighted planning

Weighted grade calculator

Use this when categories contribute different shares to a course grade. For a single test scored by points, use the teacher stack grader instead.

Normalized weighted grade

87.2%100% entered

Weights total 100%.

Weighted grades are a different calculation

A 90% quiz category worth 20% of the course contributes 18 percentage points. A test category with the same score but a 50% weight contributes 45. Add the contributions, then divide by the sum of the weights entered.

If your weights do not total 100%

This tool normalizes the result across the weights you entered and shows the current total. That is useful for partial planning, but it may differ from a school system that treats missing categories as zero or applies special rules. Match the calculation to the written grading policy.

What this tool intentionally does not do

It does not store courses, student names, or grades. It is a transparent planning calculator, not a gradebook. GradCal for iPhone focuses on anonymous paper-stack sessions and does not duplicate this course-planning workflow.
