(earned + extra credit) ÷ possible × 100Scores may exceed 100% when extra credit is used. Rounding is applied before the letter band is selected, and zero possible points return no grade.

Every example below can be entered in the calculator above. The visible formula, point totals, and letter boundary should agree.
17.5 ÷ 20 × 100 = 87.5%The default scale assigns a B because 87.5 is below the 90% A boundary.
(20 − 2.5) ÷ 20 × 100 = 87.5%Stack mode reaches the same result by recording deductions instead of retyping points earned.
(20 + 2) ÷ 20 × 100 = 110%Bonus points are explicit and the result is not silently capped at 100%.
If your school uses different letter cutoffs or rounding, set those rules before grading. GradCal is a calculation aid; the written grading policy remains the source of record.
