Why this site exists
Many grade calculators answer one isolated points question. GradCal’s main calculator keeps the assignment setup in place while a teacher grades several papers. It records anonymous paper numbers, shows the running distribution, and exports the arithmetic without asking for student names, accounts, or a class roster.
The other calculators have separate jobs: an easy grader table lists every possible score, the weighted calculator combines course categories, the scale calculator maps a percentage to adjustable bands, and the bell curve tool compares an anonymous score distribution.
How calculations are maintained
The website tools use shared calculation functions for points, extra credit, rounding, grade bands, averages, and curve statistics. Automated checks cover known examples and edge cases such as zero possible points, decimal input, partial credit, scores above 100%, invalid bands, and identical curve scores.
Each tool also explains its formula and limits in plain language. The calculation methodology is the concise reference; the teacher grading guide shows how those rules fit into a repeatable stack workflow.
What GradCal does not claim
GradCal is an independent planning and calculation tool. It is not an official gradebook, transcript service, school system, or substitute for a syllabus or department policy. Letter boundaries, rounding, extra credit, repeated work, curves, and missing assignments can be handled differently by different schools.
The site does not promise that one default scale is universal. Teachers should set the calculator to the written policy that applies to their class and verify results before recording them.
Privacy and contact
Calculator inputs stay in the browser unless you intentionally download an anonymous export. The product does not provide student-name, student-ID, school, or roster fields. Details about local storage, advertising, server logs, and iPhone purchases are in the privacy policy.
